TWO Kidderminster businessmen were "over the moon" when they turned up for a charity date to discover their footballing hero Wolves' Steve Bull was there.
Chris Mossey and Les Pugh, directors of CornerCare of Birchen Coppice Trading Estate, Kidderminster donated £400 to the Kemp Hospice on behalf of their company, which is celebrating 25 years of business in the town.
Mr Mossey said:"Les and myself only travelled back from a business trip in Dubai the day before the presentation so it was all a bit of a rush and we hadn't realised Stevie Bull was going to be there.
"We are both massive Wolves fans and we were gobsmacked but absolutely delighted."
Wolves and England legend Steve Bull was at the presentation at the Co-op store, Franche Road, representing the football club, which is promoting and organising Kemp Hospice's Goalden Gate Lottery fund-raising venture.
Mr Mossey, sales director of CornerCare - which manufactures steel products for the construction trade - said he and Mr Pugh, managing director had decided to donate the money because many of the employees, including Mr Mossey, had friends or relatives who had been affected by cancer.
The hospice will use the money to buy coin money boxes which will be used in Kidderminster schools and other organisations to collect loose change for the hospice.
The Co-op, which has helped Kemp Hospice with grants, donations and groceries, will host a visit by carol singers from St Barnabas Church. The event, in December, will also boost the hospice.
Vanessa Palmer, manager of the Co-op Travel branch, said: "We are very keen to help this worthy cause."
