Littleton 3, Bretforton 0

ON a raw afternoon in front of a good sized crowd, Littleton moved into the next round of the Evesham Hospital Cup.

The first 25 minutes was dominated by the visitors who created several good opportunities.

A sweet three-man move opened up the home defence and it needed a desperate dive by Adam Moss to smother the danger.

Then, a powerful shot by Daryll Mitchell brought an excellent save from Moss before Carl Troughton had a free header from a corner but put the ball just wide.

However, the game turned on the half-hour when a Bretforton player received a second yellow card and within five minutes Littleton were ahead.

Taking the ball wide on the right, Matthew Staley came inside and as the keeper advanced hit the ball past him.

The second half saw the visitors try to push men forward but they were caught more and more often as Littleton got on top and created chances.

Simon Brain hit the bar and this was followed by a half-volley from Jon Gregory that brought a good save from Michael Harris.

Still Littleton pressed and Harris was again called into action when saving well from Stephen Brown. However, the goalkeeper had was left helpless after 62 minutes when a Staley shot from outside the box took a wicked deflection.

The scoring was wrapped up nine minutes from time when Curtis Major's fine 60-yard pass found Brain who slipped the ball to Staley, whose shot beat the keeper from 18 yards to complete his hat-trick.
