A TEAM of fighters from the Worcester based Clive Harrison school of Tae Kwon-Do returned with 11 medals from the GTI (Global Tae Kwon-Do International) National Points Championships held in Tewkesbury.
Val Wilkinson won two gold medals in the ladies' red belt sparring and patterns, while there was one apiece for Cathy Dickinson in the ladies' green belt sparring, Rhona Davies in the ladies' yellow belt sparring and Kelly Davies in the girls' yellow belt sparring.
Silver medals went to James Dickinson in both the men's green belt sparring and patterns, Carla Jones in both the ladies' yellow belt sparring and patterns, and Helen Box in the girls' red belt patterns.
Rhona Davies also won a bronze in the ladies' yellow belt patterns. Fellow club member David Weston narrowly missed out on the medals.
Instructor Clive Harrison was very pleased with the results, saying: "The team did fantastically well considering this was an open event with other associations taking part so the standard was very high, and we have shown once again we can hold our own with the best.
"A lot of students were winning medals for the first time and this is down to the depth of experience that we have in the club."
The club's assistant instructor Tonia Cox 4th Dan has over 12 years of national and international competition experience and Harrison has trained numerous national and international champions in a career spanning over 20 years.
The club trains every Wednesday and Sunday at Nunnery Wood Sports Centre. Anyone wishing to train with them can contact Clive Harrison on 01531-640187.
