Bewdley Town 3 Tenbury United 0
UNITED did not enjoy the run of the ball and the final scoreline does not reflect a match in which they battled hard and deserved to get something out of the game against West Midlands League Division 1 South challengers Bewdley.
The opening quarter was evenly contested as Tenbury created the better half-chances, but Bewdley showed they were dangerous on the break and visiting keeper Byron Davies had to make a flying save to keep them out.
However he could not stop Bewdley taking a 20th minute lead when their striker was quick to flick it past the advancing Davies.
Tenbury should have levelled minutes later when Aaron Morris broke down the left and sent over an inch-perfect cross, which his brother Ryan squandered when, unchallenged, he headed over the top.
It was clearly not Tenbury's day, with a Graham Caldicott chip being pushed onto a post, a Paul Higgins free kick rebounding off the bar, and a penalty appeal turned down when Ryan Morris was clipped down in the box.
Just before the break Tenbury lost possession and the dangerous Chris Haugh raced 50 metres to slide a shot under the diving Davies for a second home goal.
Tenbury did not drop their heads but with time running out Bewdley forced a corner and notched their third goal when a deep cross was hammered home at the far post.
