THE search for a new venue to re-house the crumbling Kidderminster Indoor Market is back to square one.
Traders set to move out of their Worcester Street base were left reeling after an offer of a town centre property turned out to be too good to be true.
The two floors above the now vacant McDonalds, also on Worcester Street, were mooted as a possible venue but is now out of the running.
Leader of Wyre Forest District Council Howard Martin - who has pledged to find a new venue for the 21 tenants after the current premises were declared structurally unsound - said: "The building was let by an agent in Worcester who hadn't been told the property had been taken off the market by McDonalds."
The property was going for "peanuts" and would have been ideal for the traders, said Mr Martin, although the council was now looking for other locations to carry on the market.
"We have listed some potential units but we need to find out if they are available."
