LEARNING difficulties will not stand in the way of budding entrepreneurs at Kidderminster College who set up the college's first Team Enterprise group.

Twenty-six-year-old Damian Sier, 21-year-olds Amy Buckle, Sarah Baker, Martin Jones and Jon Fox, with 20-year-old Luke Taylor, have set up their own company selling cards and gift-bags called "The Club House".

And their tutor Jan Dearden, who co-ordinates the full-time two-year Team Enterprise course, said her first year students had made excellent progress.

"They've come together as a team, which is absolutely wonderful, and chosen their own company name and logo and opened a bank account," she said, adding they had already received orders for about 300 items.

"It's the same as Young Enterprise but it's 19-plus and we've geared it to people with learning difficulties.

"The curriculum includes IT, literacy and numeracy and they make their products every Wednesday and Thursday and hold business meetings."

She added the pupils, who all hold positions within the company ranging from chairman to secretary, will design and make everything they sell themselves.
