HARRY Potter "without the magic" is on the cards for a production celebrating 60 years of a Stourport drama group.
Daisy Pulls It Off takes place in a boarding school for girls in 1920s England and is a "light hearted pastiche of a genre of girls' books" according to producer Alan Williams.cast members for Daisy Pulls It Off include, back from left, Staci hyde, Bernadette Godsell, Luci Townley and Stacy Carter with, front from left, Becky Lock, Hannah Wiliams and Helen Acutt.
It tells the story of Daisy Meredith and her struggle to be accepted as one of the first pupils to be let into the fictional Grangewood School for Girls on a scholarship.
"Think of Nancy Drew or Harry, but without the magic!" said Mr Williams of the production, the second play to be staged by Stourport Three Arts Guild this year.
"Seventy five per cent of the cast are between 10 and 17 so we had a lot of fun rehearsing over the last two months. It is a comedy of manners really, rather than an out and out farce. The kids have had a great time putting it together."
Musical numbers were inserted into the play when it was picked up in the 1980s by Andrew Lloyd Webber - where it ran at the West End for three years - and has since returned to the capital city for another stint last year.
Daisy Pulls It Off runs from November 20 - 22 at Stourport Civic Theatre. The show starts at 7.30pm and for tickets call 01299 822445, 01299 878042 or 01584 891412.
