THE service for Remembrance Sunday at St Anne's Church in Oxenhall was conducted by Mrs Jill Bond of Redmarley.
During the second verse of the first hymn, the congregation processed out into the churchyard and gathered around the war memorial.
Two minutes' silence was observed. Mr Fred Baldwin, churchwarden, laid the wreath of red poppies. The roll of honour was read by Mr John Bowers.
Mr Graham Webb read the words of Laurence Binyon: "They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them."
The national anthem was sung. The organist was Mrs Eunice Cooper. The first bible reading was by Miss Elizabeth James and the second reading by Mrs Pam Grejar. The sidesmen were Mr Fred Baldwin and Mrs Dot Rogers. Mr Baldwin's co-churchwarden, Mr Binny Brooks, together with his wife was also present.
On Sunday (November 16) the service at St Anne's will be matins at 9.30am, also to be conducted by Mrs Jill Bond.
