Former RAF Wing Commander Neville Shorrick will give an illustrated talk on the 'forgotten air force' of Singapore and Malaya.
The talk will take place at Wellington Heath Memorial Hall and will cover the most significant events leading up to the fall of Singapore, the occupation by the Japanese and the immediate post-war years.
Mr Shorrick, of Wellington Heath, served in Singapore for three years in the sixties, during which time he was asked to produce an authorised history of the RAF in the Far East.
His book, Lion in the Sky, published in 1968, sold more than 3,000 copies. It took Mr Shorrick three years to research and write the book, which includes information he gathered personally from 150 interviews in South East Asia and Japan.
On retiring from the RAF in 1987, Mr Shorrick went on to pursue a career as a management consultant and is a governor at University College Worcester.
The talk, on November 28, will be the first that Mr Shorrick has given on the subject for more than 30 years.
He said: "It seems that people have forgotten the thousands of servicemen who committed some remarkable acts of bravery in the Far East. I hope the talk will generate some public interest in the background of activities before and during the war."
The talk begins at 7.30pm. Tickets are £3 from Mike Wigmore on 01432 356756.
