A CAR parking trial to ease congestion in two Malvern roads will begin in the New Year.

The six-month trial is aimed at encouraging more people to use car parks in Victoria Road and Church Street by offering £3 tickets for seven days' parking.

At the moment, many workers opt to park on Victoria Road and Como Road. However, both are due to get extra double yellow lines in the New Year.

It is estimated that between 30 and 40 cars will be displaced as a result.

At a meeting on Tuesday night, Malvern Hills District Council's executive committee decided the trial, estimated to cost £5,000, should start next year to coincide with the painting of the yellow lines.
