TWO founder-members of Malvern Hills District Footpath Society were given a birthday tea as they reached 90.
Relatives and around 80 society friends helped Emy (Emily) Denley and Ray Ward celebrate at Hanley Swan Village Hall.
The event began with a slide show by Lois Barefield on the early years of the society. Two cakes, made by society member Tom Clapton, were then cut and gifts and flowers were presented.
Ray is currently completing a booklet on the history of the society and still leads walks. On Saturday he led members on a seven-mile route around Old Castle Farm, Chances Pitch and the Colwall area.
A former teacher, he also helps at Malvern Stroke Club and attends computer classes at Malvern's On Line Centre.
Emy has lived in Upton all her life and runs a bed-and-breakfast in Holly Green. Her cooking skills are appreciated by society members and she contributed to the old Upton WI market.
