Frances Victory (Your Letters, October 31) is wrong in her understanding that Malvern Town Council has refused to consider providing a bus shelter to those travelling to Malvern Wells.
The operations committee deferred a decision pending discussion with the bus companies and the highway authority to agree that the shelter should be located next to the Post Office, as first suggested in the original town centre regeneration scheme.
This is a far more suitable site as it is safer and less exposed to the elements. Also, being directly next to the Post Office it would better serve those needing to collect their pensions.
I am sorry Meriel Tomkinson (Your Letters, October 31) is so unhappy with the new shelter in Church Street.
Unfortunately, fitting sides to it would have created a dangerous hazard due to the pavement width.
I am, however, pleased to advise that Mr Chapman, our acting-clerk, has already had the seats lowered so I hope I can assure Ms Tomkinson that we do care on the council and do take criticism on board.
Adrian Ward, chairman, operations committee, Malvern Town Council.
