PUPILS at Queen Elizabeth High School, Bromyard, were to auction themselves as slaves to raise money for charity this week.
The auction, taking place today (Friday), is the highlight of a week of activities to raise money for charities including Bromyard's Megan Baker House, a centre for children with cerebral palsy.
It was organised entirely by pupils in Gaynor McClarey's Year 11 class.
"The whole form was involved and the kids came up with their own ideas. They really came together on this," she said.
John Macdonald came up with the idea of selling pupils as slaves and his classmates Ellie James, Michael Needs and Shaun Jones helped organise the sale.
The form wrote to local businesses to ask for goods to sell alongside the pupils being auctioned.
Other events organised by the form include Tom Matthews holding an X-Box computer game competition, some pupils running a nail bar, and Alan Colebatch selling iron key fobs he had made.
