A NEW Brockhampton brand of damson jam was launched yesterday (Thursday) as part of a National Trust farming project on the Brockhampton Estate.
As part of the Farming Forward in Action initiative, the National Trust is working with tenants on the estate to add value to the products they create.
The jam-making scheme was a partnership between the estate and tenant's wife Jane Coldicott.
The jam will be sold at the Brockhampton Christmas fairs on December 6 and 14 and will eventually be sold at local markets and National Trust shops with the profits of the scheme reinvested in the estate.
It is hoped that redundant farm buildings can be turned into professional kitchen facilities. The project aims to rejuvenate the estate's farms after the huge impact of foot and mouth.
