THE autumn season at Malvern Hills Indoor Bowling Club has started well with a pleasing number of new members.
The casual roll-up sessions are very popular and provide practice for both competitive and social bowlers.
The ladies have played three matches. They won against Cotswold Ladies and Bristol City Ladies but lost to Banbury Ladies. In the national competitions Malvern Hills Ladies lost the Over 60s Trophy to Cotswold, but had a resounding win in the Yetton Trophy against Thamesdown at Swindon. They play Fairford in the next round on December 4.
The mixed matches have produced some disappointing results in spite of the enthusiasm of all concerned.
They have yet to win a match but have come close; in some cases losing by only four or five shots.
The men play in four national competitions and are doing well in the Top Ten League, the Over 60s and the Wessex league.
Unfortunately they were knocked out in the second round of the Denney Cup.
The club competitions start on Thursday, November 13 and December 11 with the Ladies Pairs and Singles. After the first round of these members concentrate on the Christmas party that is to be held on Friday, December 19.
New members are still welcome to join the club. Non-members are welcome most Friday afternoons from 2-4pm and a session for the disabled is held on Fridays from 4.30-6.30pm.
