Have I told you I'm scared of the dark. Nyctophobia, that's what it's called. We were talking about phobias in the back bar of the Pick and Micks the other day and it's amazing what people are scared off. The dark was quite ordinary really.

Mick the Miller - so called because he looks nothing like a greyhound - says he's afraid of bulls. Not Hereford United, but the big things that are the fathers of calves.

It appears he was chased by a bull as a lad, and has never been able to look them in the eye since. Safe to say, he won't be spending his holidays in Pamplona! It's called Taurophobia.

Deep Fat - his surname is Fryer - says he's afraid of frogs. Honest, frogs. It's called Batrachophobia.

While Billy No Mates says he's afraid of work, but we knew that anyway.

It appears the fear of working is called Ergophobia or Ponohobia, as opposed to Pornophobia which is a fear of...

Now, as you will know, I am not a well educated man, Martley Infants and Junior, Chrissies, (although the teachers did their best). So how come I know about phobias? Well, the internet.

By the way, Rick The K, a fear of spoons is not listed.

If you want to find out about phobias, try www.phobialist.com.

Talking about the internet, what a great invention it is. Except if you want to set quizzes on the radio.

Because the clever ones among the population of the two shires go on the net to find the answers.

In other words, where was Lord Nelson born? Just stick in "Lord Nelson Born", and it comes up with "Nelson was born in 1758 at Parsonage House in Burnham Thorpe".

His father, Edmund Nelson was the rector to the village until his death in 1802, etc...

We did put in "when will Mick The Miller buy a round" but the machine blew up.

By the way, another cracking website is nitpickers.com. They have loads of mistakes made in feature films. I think there are almost 400 in Titanic.

Things such as a Roosevelt Dime features in the film, but they weren't minted until 1950 and the Titanic went down in 1912.

Lots of good things to amaze your friends with.
