LOCAL junior fishing club 'Team Hooked' are holding a large sponsored fish-in on Sunday (November 16) in aid of the BBC Children in Need appeal.
Local Professional Anglers Association coach, Neil Sarkar, who runs 'Team Hooked' each week has joined forces with Ian Boden's Angling School from Birmingham for the event which will be run on Grebe Pool at Top Barn Angling Centre, Holt, from 10am to 4pm.
Around 50 children will take part and it is hoped that a considerable sum will be raised for the charity.
Neil said: "This event is a real chance to show that angling can really have a positive effect on young people, all of the kids have really entered into the fundraising spirit and are really enthusiastic about Sunday.
"There will be around 50 youngsters taking part during the day obtaining sponsorship money for each fish they catch.
"We have received great support for the event and I would specially like to thank Top Barn for donating the venue and food, Alan's Fishing Tackle, Worcester, for supplying all of the bait, Worcester City Council, Andy Roberts at the Environment Agency, Leeda Tackle and Fox International, as well as all of the helpers who are volunteering their time on the day.
"If junior anglers would like to be involved the cost on the day will be £10 and they can book their place by calling me on either 01886 888369 or 07903 529872.
"Team Hooked is open to all local youngsters each week and gives them the chance to learn the techniques of fishing from a top professional coach.
"If anybody is interested in joining please contact me on the above numbers."
