A CITY community centre, in which the bacteria of the potential killer bug Legionnaire's disease was found, is set to re-open on Monday.
Contractors were drafted in to replace all the pipework at The Green Centre, Dines Green, after the Legionella bacteria was discovered in its kitchen sink.
Pipework has also been replaced at Brickfield's King George V Playing Fields changing rooms after the Legionella bacteria was found in its shower block at the same time.
"The Green Centre is due to be given a clean bill of health on Monday," said Councillor Margaret Layland, who represents Dines Green ward.
The news of the Legionella bacteria in the two Worcester City Council owned buildings broke last Monday.
Members of the Green Centre lunch club cancelled their meeting and people who used the computer facilities at online@thegreencentre used the same facilities at Worcester YMCA, Henwick Road, Worcester.
Mothers and children using Tot Talk, a baby caf at The Green Centre, attended a rescheduled session at St Michael's Church, Dines Green.
The work at the playing field's changing rooms, should be finished by Monday with inspectors giving the green light for it to re-open on Saturday, November 22.
Meanwhile, in Herefordshire a woman in her 90s was confirmed as having Legionnaires, along with two others yesterday, bringing the total to 15.
One man in his 70s died from the illness.
