MEMBERS of Worcester's Royal British Legion laid a wreath at the grave of a German prisoner-of-war as part of Remembrance Week.
John Hewlett, chairman of the Worcester city branch of the Royal British Legion, was among the group paying tribute at Astwood Cemetery, Astwood Road, Worcester, yesterday, to comrades killed during the two world wars.
Mr Hewlett said as well as remembering comrades, they also paid tribute to those who had died while prisoners-of-war in England.
"In 1963, we had a letter from the War Graves Commission stating that a family in Germany wanted a bunch of flowers putting on the grave of Karl Foest who died of gunshot wounds while being treated at Ronkswood hospital," said Mr Hewlett.
"We've laid a wreath every year ever since."
