WORCESTER City captain Carl Heeley has vowed to pull out all the stops in an effort to halt his side's alarming slump in results.
The St George's Lane club slipped to ninth in the Dr Martens Premier Division on Saturday after stumbling to their second consecutive home defeat.
Visitors Hednesford Town completed a league double over John Barton's side with a 70th minute winner from Mark Danks.
Below-par City rallied and defender Barry Woolley went close to snatching an equaliser in stoppage time, but his header was cleared off the line by veteran defender Chris Brindley.
Heeley, who made his 450th appearance for the club at the weekend, admits their confidence has been dented but believes the solution is to work harder.
"I've no doubt we will turn it round but there is only one way out of it," he said.
"We start again in training tonight and work a little bit harder.
"It will turn our way because the performances are not weak but we were just a bit unfortunate against Hednesford.
"We need to improve a few percent at both ends of the pitch."
City's current predicament has seen them net just 15 points from a possible 42 including just one victory in their last seven league matches.
But Heeley is backing his side to return to form. "We've got to stick in there and sort it out together," he added.
"I thought we deserved something from the game on Saturday but once again it was a sneaked goal that's cost us.
"A little lapse of discipline allowed their player to get a run on Pat Lyons, they knocked the ball over and scored."
"We are getting lots of possession in games but not really creating a great deal and are not working opposing keepers enough," he added.
"You are always down when you are not getting results but that's when you pull together."
City are next in action on Saturday when they entertain Weston-super-Mare who are eight points behind John Barton's side but with three games in hand.
