KIND-hearted people are being urged to donate any spare clothes or bric-a-brac to a charity shop after it lost 10 bags of stock in a flood.
Daisychain Benevolent Fund - which donates its profits to County Air Ambulance and Noah's Ark Trust, a charity which provides bereavement support for children and young people - was flooded when the water heater broke down at the weekend.
This left the stock room awash, ruining bags of donated clothes and bric-a-brac.
The staff finished work at 2pm on Saturday, but when assistant manager Pat Richardson came into the St John's shop yesterday morning she discovered the flooded stock room.
"The water was at least one inch deep, and had started to enter into the shop," said Devina Roberts, the shop's manager.
"Pat then rang me up.
"We lost quite a bit of stock, all good quality clothing.
"Yesterday was a disaster really. We had to forget the day and get on with cleaning up, but we did manage to keep trading under difficult circumstances.
"We are open today, and I'd like to say thank you to Pat and the volunteers who helped clean up."
Anyone who would like to donate items to the shop should ring 01905 748820.
