A LOLLIPOP lady cannot wait for the next school holidays - that's when she will be spending the travel vouchers won in an Evening News competition.
Jean Birbeck, the longest serving lollipop lady in South Worcestershire, scooped £500 of holiday vouchers courtesy of furniture shop Insitu, based in Friar Street, Worcester, and in association with Status Travel, of Deansway, Worcester, during one of our Birthday Bonanza giveaways.
The 61-year-old, who has been helping pupils from Red Hill CE Primary School cross the road for the past 32 years, is now looking forward to her time in the sun.
"I only entered the competitions I was interested in and this one caught my eye," said Mrs Birbeck, of Sebright Avenue, Battenhall.
"It was a bit of a surprise when I received news of the win, but a welcome one. I haven't spent them yet but I think my husband and I will use them for the summer holidays.
"I think we might choose Italy - I like it there."
