A CHARITY gig at Worcester's Marr's Bar helped raise £177 for a Thai man whose legs are severely deformed.
Somphet Bunsorn, who lives in Thailand, was born with deformed legs at birth, and he currently uses a bicycle that he modified himself which gives him limited ability.
His English friends Becky Pearman and Paul Taylor arranged the gig to try to raise money for a hand-controlled motor-scooter which would give him greater independence.
They first met Mr Bunsorn when back-packing in Thailand seven years ago.
"The gig went really well and there were a lot of people there," said Miss Pearman.
"We are really pleased with the money raised. But it was not as much as we hoped, so we are in discussion about what to do next.
"We might club together and put the extra money towards the scooter."
Mr Taylor will be visiting Thailand in January and aims to buy the scooter for Mr Bunsorn over there.
Worcester bands Snorkel and Economy Prostitutes played at the Pierpoint Street venue charity gig on Thursday.
