A MAN has been charged with stealing more than £340,000, after an inquiry into the theft of funds from a bank account belonging to Habitat founder Sir Terence Conran, it emerged today.
West Mercia Police said the man, who is also accused of attempted theft, had been bailed to appear before Severnminster Magistrates Court in Kidderminster on Friday, November 28.
A police spokesman said: "Our economic crime unit has charged a man with the theft of £340,700 and the attempted theft of £10,000 following an investigation into the transfer of large amounts of money into Abbey National accounts in Kidderminster."
Police inquiries were centred in Kidderminster and at Abbey's customer services offices in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
Six other men and two women who were arrested during the investigation will face no further action after answering police bail, the spokesman added.
