PHIL Horton scored four goals as Droitwich Spa Hockey Club Men's First XI mauled Kynoch 7-1 to record their first win of the season.
Spa, one place above their basement side opponents before the start of play, led 5-0 at the break and could have doubled their tally by the end.
And captain Barry Williams was relieved to finally to get Spa's first win on the board in seven attempts.
He said: "It was long overdue and to be honest they weren't very good and if we had not have got that many we would have been disappointed.
"It was all one-way traffic so it will do our confidence some good. They are the worst side we have played for a long time."
Apart from Horton hitting the net four times, Williams added two and Nick Adams another. Andy Harris also played his part, setting up four. Spa were 6-0 clear before Kynoch scored.
Spa Ladies Firsts lost 4-3 at home to Worcester Norton Seconds with the last kick of the match.
Two goals from Hannah Deacon and an excellent 20-yard run and shot from Gwen Smith put Spa 3-1 up at the break but they were pegged back to 3-3 in the second half.
The visitors then forced a penalty corner at the death and with the final hit of the contest, the ball ricocheted off a defender and in.
