BROMSGROVE Hockey Club Men's First XI were held to a 1-1 home draw by Rugeley last Saturday despite throwing everything but the kitchen sink at their opponents.
Julian Court's side attacked for the whole game, forcing countless penalty corners in the process, but only had Ben Husbands' second half strike to show for their efforts. The visitors scored with their only shot of the match late on.
Captain Court, who has seen his side slip to third in West Midlands division one, said: "It was very frustrating, we didn't play well. We had a chance to extend our second place but we don't deserve to be second.
"We missed chance after chance, it was one-way traffic all the way through. They broke it own and made it a really poor game."
Bromsgrove must now dust themselves down in time for visit of fifth place and rivals Redditch to St Godwald's Park this Saturday.
The skipper said of that match: "It will be blood and thunder. I am looking forward to it already."
