ENGLAND cricket ace Ashley Giles has been honoured with a new nickname following a printing blunder.
The Droitwich Spa-based spin bowler is now jokingly referred to as "The King" by his international team mates after an error on a set of commemorative mugs.
Giles' club, Warwickshire, had a series of mugs made for several squad members to sell in their club shop. The 30-year-old was due to have the words "King of Spin" emblazoned on the side of his.
Unfortunately, when the first was returned as a sample it had "King of Spain" printed on it by mistake.
Only one was ever made but it was stolen from Edgbaston cricket ground last year. A replica has since been made and will be housed in the museum at Edgbaston.
The club have also had some spoof mugs made up in recognition of the mix-up featuring pictures of Giles and the real King of Spain, Juan Carlos II.
BBC Radio 4's Test Match Special presenter Henry Blofeld is also pictured on the side of the new mug.
Former England cricket star Phil Tufnell, winner of 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here', was in Droitwich Spa last Friday. He gave a talk to Chaddesley Sports Club at the Copcut Elm in Worcester Road.
