Malvern Town extended their lead at the top of the West Midlands League Premier Division table to eight points, following an emphatic 9-0 success at bottom club Coseley Town last night.
Still reeling from a 7-0 reverse at Ledbury on Saturday, Coseley knew that they were in for a rough ride once Lee Hooper set up Dean Roberts for Malvern's opening goal after just six minutes.
Five minutes later Craig Williams drove powerfully home to extend his sides lead, but after 15 minutes Dean Roberts spurned the chance of his second goal when his penalty kick was well saved by the home goalkeeper.
But a third goal for Malvern was not long in coming and again it was courtesy of a powerful 20th minute shot by Williams.
Rik Halion and Hooper might have got on the score sheet themselves, but it was not long before the latter did, when he deftly touched home Pete Roberts' excellent free kick in the 33rd minute.
In the 39th minute Adam Baldwin fired home Malvern's fifth to secure an unassailable half time position for his side.
Inevitably the second period did not quite match the first for Malvern, but Williams secured his hat-trick with a brilliant strike from just inside the area in the 54th minute.
In the 71st minute Hooper cut in from the left and drilled home an excellent shot, and an eighth goal duly arrived 10 minutes later when Roberts' shot came back off the hapless 'keeper and Hooper was on hand to secure his hat-trick.
Malvern secured their ninth strike in the 87th minute when Duncan Willetts was flattened in the area and Hooper stepped up to comfortably convert the resultant spot kick.
Town's youth team rounded off a good night for the club by beating Newport County 3-2 in the Herefordshire FA Giantkillers Cup.
Worcester City are in Midland Floodlit Youth League action at Stourport Swifts tonight (7.30).
