TWO goals in injury time saw Fairfield Villa hand Bloxwich Town their first victory of the season, 2-1 at the Recreation Ground.
John Baker and Neil Gallagher's side were leading with seconds left last Saturday before the visitors, bottom of Midland Combination division one before kick-off, came up with a decisive double.
The hosts, with a much-changed side due to injuries and work commitments, missed two clear cut chances before taking the lead on 35 minutes. A pass from Richard Whitlock found Dean Smith out on the left and he cut inside, beating two defenders, before shooting past Richard Williams.
In the second half Bloxwich put Villa under pressure and hit the post twice while Villa goalkeeper Dave White also pulled off two important saves.
Villa had two chances to put the game out of sight in the last ten minutes, but bad finishing let them down.
They paid the price in injury time when first Greg Harris scored, following a goal mouth scramble, and then in the final minute of added time defender Wayne Hughes headed the winner.
