Redditch 18
Cloebury Mortimer 8
Redditch entertained Cleobury Mortimer at the weekend, which has traditionally always proved to be a very tough fixture. This was made all the more difficult by the injuries that Redditch incurred the previous week against Veseyans.
So with a rejigged side, Redditch set about turning around their recent run of poor form. Going down the hill in the first half Redditch looked lively and with their new centre partnership of Alekna & Davies, starting to lookdangerous. This pressure was transformed into points as Redditch scored first with an unconverted try by Edwin Grey. The forwards also looked a lot more competitive with hard yards being covered by new Hooker Glenn Francis.
The pressure continued to show as Wilson kicked a 43rd minute penalty.
Redditch thought this was half time, & took their eye off the game enough to let Cleobury back in to score a penalty in the 45th minute.
Redditch obviously upset by this, came out in the second half with all guns firing with Wilson going over for a first minute try, which he also converted. Wilson then stretched the lead with a 5th minute penalty.
Pressure was now on him for a drop goal, to get the full house, but alas not to be.
Redditch let Cleobury in to score a consolation unconverted try in the 45th minute of the half, but by this time the game was won, with a Final Score of 18-8
Man of the match had to be debutant hooker Glenn Francis, who put in a sterling performance .
