A REDDITCH woman is to be given a prestigious award by a national newsreader for her work in promoting and encouraging continuous learning and development among her staff.
Wirehill resident Joan Flood, a 55 year old who studies at Longden Ltd in Bickenhill, is to receive an award in the Lifelong Learning category of the OCR (Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations) Recognising Achievement.
It will be presented by newsreader Fiona Bruce at a ceremony in London on November 27.
Mrs Flood is the deputy chief executive of Suits Plus.
This is the fifth year OCR has given the awards which are presented to learners of all ages and abilities who deserve recognition for their educational and training efforts in gaining qualifications
Mrs Flood said: "As a company deputy chief executive who admits to being past the first flush of youth, I've steered Suits Plus successfully through IIP accreditation, recognising en route the business benefits achieved through effective and continuous learning.
"I had to exercise leadership and set an example to my staff, as the impetus has to come from the top."
