A RECENT edition of the Evening News ran an interesting and moving article on A-level English Literature students who travelled to Belgium and France to see the commemoration sites of the First World War writers.
On student, Rory McGrath, described how he found the grave of his great-great uncle by logging on to the website of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
It is the task of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to commemorate the Commonwealth's 1.7 million world war dead who are buried in cemeteries and named on memorials all over the world.
I would like to take this opportunity to advise readers that they, like Rory, can find the final resting place of relatives who died during the world wars by accessing the commission's record through our website.
The search-by surname database can be found at www.cwgc.org. Enquiries by letter or telephone are also welcome at our Maidenhead office.
