DURING the morning, a home economics and crafts contest was held. As well as awarding marks, the judges gave helpful written comments against each exhibit.
Nancy Davis opened the afternoon meeting by reading out the judges' report of the morning's presentation as follows: The craft and produce stall was to a high standard with a good variety of items on display. The knitted items were to a good standard. The colourful floral exhibits looked cheerful. A silver cup was presented to the winner in each of the following categories: Handicrafts, Nancy Davis; floral display, Isobel Thompson; cookery, Mary Hartley. Many of the items on display were to be given to the Primrose Hospice shop. The meeting continued with the reading of the secretary's and treasurer's reports by Betty Gibbs and Doreen Andrews.
With her presidential year drawing to a close, Nancy Davis thanked members for their help and participation. She asked everyone to remember the long serving members Barbara Brazier and Rosemary Nicholls, who both died earlier this year.
Betty Wolsey is our president for 2004 but the rest of the committee are to serve for another year. Our meeting on December 4 includes a Christmas tea and social.
