MAMMOTH bike rides, hours busking in the winter weather and office dress-down days are some of the fundraisers being attempted by townsfolk to raise cash for a critically ill tot.
Fraser Mitchell, dad of two-year-old George, has been astounded at the generosity and creativity of people who have been touched into wanting to help.
George was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour and without treatment doctors predict he will not live to see his tenth birthday.
Through the Advertiser/Messenger, his parents, Sophie and Fraser have been urging residents to help them raise the £70,000 needed for pioneering treatment in New York.
"People have just been so kind," said Fraser, who is in the Royal Air Force and based in Wiltshire.
"I was contacted by one man who has offered to do a bike ride to Aberystwyth in aid of the appeal and I would urge him to get back in touch."
He added: "So far we have had donations to the tune of about £1,000, which when you think about people making five or ten pound contributions, is just brilliant!"
The couple has had to tighten their belt and through selling all their non-essential possessions they have generated more than £35,000.
Sidemoor man George Brooks has organised a Christmas concert at Catshill Workmen's Club in Meadow Road on December 19 in aid of the appeal.
He has secured five top entertainers and a host of exciting raffle prizes. Tickets are £5 and they are available from George on 07776415240.
As head steward at Bromsgrove Rovers' Victoria Ground, George was also able to organise a collection on a match day, raising £108.14.
