JACQUI Smith was invited to visit Redditch Victim Support for an update on its activities and to hear about its new facilities at the magistrates court.
Ms Smith visited as part of National MPs' Day, during which hundreds of MPs visited their local Victim Support branches to see the vital work being carried out.
Ms Smith said: "Redditch Victim Support has set an example that has been copied nationally.
"I remember taking Jack Straw, the then Shadow Home Secretary, to visit the charity before the 1997 election.
"I know he was impressed with the organisation and the service victims of crime receive thanks to the hard work of the staff in Redditch.
"I will continue to support this organisation, not only in words and in visits like this but by voting for extra resources that will ensure victims get effective help."
