POOR, down-trodden Cinderella searched for her Prince Charming at Elgar Technology College in Worcester.
A packed crowd turned up to see students tread the boards at the Bilford Road school with a modern take on this traditional, 200-year-old fairytale.
The mix of magic and comedy remained true to the original tale, with more than 50 pupils from Years 7 to 10 taking part.
But instead of the ball, ugly sisters, complete with short skirts and red lipstick, strutted their stuff to chart hits at a nightclub, complete with club bouncers.
The play opened to a full house for its first showing last night and follows on from the college's successful production of Grease.
Teaching assistant, Becky King, said the play, which runs until Friday was "absolutely brilliant".
"The first night went really well. It was a full house and I definitely recommend seeing it."
