Pershore III 2,
Market Drayton III 0
A BLANK weekend for the first team saw the club's third team take the spotlight and record their first league win.
Facing more experienced opponents, the home team harried them into mistakes and set up several chances which, with a little more composure, would have ensured a more emphatic win.
Market Drayton started brightly and might have taken the lead but for goalkeeper Boddy.
This was to prove almost the visiting side's only chance in the first half as Pershore took control taking the lead with a fiercely hit short corner by specialist Rushin that sped past the keeper and clattered into the backboard.
Meers then received an excellent pass from Tom Handley and struck the ball sweetly into the corner for a two-goal cushion.
The second half saw the youngsters begin to play with much more confidence. Graham Hand-ley set up brother Anthony and then debutant Doughty with good chances only foiled by fine saves.
With the vastly more experienced Taylor and Moreby controlling the left of the pitch, opposite trio of Meers, Pugh and Smith made regular progress only to be let down with poor final passes.
The visitors continued to strive hard, but were unable to get past a superbly marshalled defence and failed to put the home goal under any pressure during the second half.
