WOULD-BE television journalist Jo Grant is in the frame after scooping the BBC Midland's Today Young Reporter of the Year for a feature on a piece of Wolverley's historical past.
The 21-year-old from Kidderminster was awarded the title for her report on the Second World War American Army Camp and the 52nd General Hospital based in the village.
"I entered the competition quite near to the deadline and I never dreamed I would reach the final five - let alone win the title.
"It's brilliant news. I'm really pleased because it's what I want to do as a career and everyone needs a break. I hope this will be mine," said Jo.
Her report included interviews with Mike Webster, who is writing a book on the subject, and June Buckley, a former employee at the hospital.
Jo, of Chester Road South, also pulled off a coup by obtaining the only known film footage of the American base from the Syracuse Medical Archive Centre in New York.
"I chose the topic because I was intrigued about this local story and the fact that people in the area are completely unaware that this fascinating place ever existed," she said.
Jo, a former Haybridge High School pupil, discovered she had the won the competition just 30 minutes before setting off to the Midland's Today Birmingham studio where she and her report went on air.
She recently completely an HND in film-making and is spending this year doing work experience before embarking on further broadcast training.
She has so far had placements with Children's BBC in London, at an independent TV company and with Classic Hits Radio in Worcester.
