HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: The speaker at this month's meeting was local broadcaster Mr Reg Moule of Drakes Broughton, who trained at Pershore College and can now be found at his day job at Hurran's Nursery and Garden Centre.
His subject was Pruning Trees and Shrubs which might sound a boring subject but when it is delivered by Reg it is a different kettle of fish. He gave several guidelines, the first being if a tree or shrub flowers winter to June then prune in July. If they flower late July to autumn prune the following February. Mrs Rosemary Russell thanked Mr Moule for his amusing and informative talk, and hoped he would return to Bourton soon.
The competition for a flower arrangement in an egg-cup was won by Mrs Oakey.
Next month will be the Christmas wine and cheese in Victoria Hall, and all tickets are now sold. The competition will be A Seasonal Photograph.
