PERSHORE'S Town Council and, this year, various sponsors have once again provided a fine display of Christmas lights.
What a pity that the arrangements to switch these on last Saturday proved such a disappointing let down - especially to the many children who attended.
But then, how ill conceived was it in the first place to imagine that:
a) Switching the lights on one hour before darkness.
b) Lighting the tree and several of the other lights before switch-on.
c) Making no audible greeting to those present.
d) Performing the switch-on in the Town Hall walkway where none of the lights down the High Street and beyond are visible.
Could provide any sort of fitting ceremony! Next year please go back to the previous successful switch-on format in Broad Street and give our children the treat they expect.
DAVID HEMMING, Nogains, Pershore.
