CHIPPING Norton Theatre's pantomime will be a real family affair in more ways than one this year.
Robin of Wychbold has been specially written by nationally acclaimed and local writer Tony Bicat. The story, set in the Cotswolds, combines the tales of Robin Hood and Babes in the Wood with a number of local myths and legends thrown in for good measure.
The show's music has been written by Ivor Novello award-winner Nick Bicat. The Oxford-based composer was awarded the honour with his brother Tony for their songs in the play Teeth 'n' Smiles. Nick is known for his work on films and television programmes.
Tina Bicat is the third and final member of the family team involved in the show. The freelance costume designer/maker is taking a break from her hectic schedule to provide the clothes for the 10th year running. As well as various work for stage, screen and television productions, Tina works as a lecturer at St Mary's College in Strawberry Hill
The festive production, which features an outstanding professional cast and new hand painted sets, is set in the depths of Wychbold forest. Robin, an environmentally friendly woodcutter, is distantly related to the better-known Robin Hood.
The lowly Robin loves Daisy, daughter of the nasty Baron Bullnose, who is intent on getting his hands on his orphaned niece and nephew's fortune. And audiences will be intrigued to discover whether Old Mother Shipton, who controls everything in the forest, is a source of good or evil.
Robin of Wychbold will run from today to Saturday, January 10. For more information contact the box office on 01608 642350.
