THE Roses theatre, Tewkesbury, is forming a new professional company to tour the region and is currently seeking actors, male and female, for a six-month contract beginning in January, 2004.
Rambling Roses will be an outreach company, creating and performing two new plays. One will do a regional schools tour, meeting the objectives of the citizenship curriculum for Key Stages 2 and 3. The second play will be for community venues throughout the region.
The Roses is seeking professional actors currently living in the Gloucestershire or the South Midlands, or actors whose roots are in the region and would like to return. The theatre will welcome a range of acting, musical, movement and workshop skills.
"A special aspect of this company will be that time will be set aside for the development of the skills and expertise of the company members over the six month period to enhance their future contribution to the theatre work of the region," said Susie Peirce.
There will be an additional post of company manager/assistant director, combining technical, administrative and creative work for a person wishing to develop a range of skills on the non-acting side.
The company will be managed directly by Roses youth and community director, Lynn Davies, and by theatre director Robert Hamlin.
Those wishing to apply should write with photo and CV to Rambling Roses, Roses Theatre, Sun Street, Tewkesbury, GL20 5NX or email on outreach@rosestheatre.org.
