Hartlebury hosted the autumn group meeting, in the parish hall, when a draw for a Denman College bursary was won by Blakedown.
Eleanor Barrett, Worcestershire Federation executive member responsible for WI Home and Country magazine, told how the magazine began in 1917 with a gift of £10 from Lady Denman and that, during the war, all articles had to be concerned with the national war effort.
The guest speaker was Richard Westcott, who worked as an actor for many years before becoming a pantomime dame. This will be his 19th year in that role, and he put on his "dame" make-up, and changed into four brightly-coloured costumes which he had made.
While doing this transformation he gave the audience make-up tips, related anecdotes and told jokes, encouraging his audience to take part in the usual pantomime responses and to join in traditional pantomime songs.
