THE names of more than 75 road accident victims were read out at a special church service in Kidderminster on Sunday.
Families from all over the district attended St Ambrose Church, Kidderminster, for the annual remembrance service organised by the Wyre Forest branch of RoadPeace - the national charity which campaigns for safer driving.
It was a particularly poignant occasion as Tuesday marked the 10th anniversary of the M40 minibus crash which claimed the lives of 12 Hagley RC High School pupils and a teacher.
The service was attended by more than 150 people, including relatives and friends of those who have lost loved ones in accidents on the road.
It was conducted by Father Douglas Lamb and Canon Paul Brothwell and the main address was by the Rev Bill Hopley, who is chaplain to West Midlands Police.
Police, firefighters, ambulance officers, hospital workers and the media took park in the prayers and there were duets by Wyre Forest singers Claire Worboys and Jonathan Darby.
