MEMBERS of Throckmorton CPSC were invited to shoot for the Skeet Trophy in near perfect conditions last Sunday.
The first card saw Skeet regulars, John Arnold and Phil Clarke set the standard as both returned maximums.
Try as they might, the rest of the competitors failed to score maximums at the first attempt.
John Boraston, Kevin Cotton, Mark Partridge, John Tarplee and visitor Wes Harris failed to achieve the magic 25 by missing single targets.
Jackie Cotton returned a maximum second time around and Cliff Hawkes bettered his first round score to end with 24/24.
After an excellent morning's shooting the top two decided to share the trophy.
Down the Line competition proved a close run affair with Lewis Thorner topping the leader board with a maximum having twice to resort to his second barrel.
Closest rival was visitor R Haines who returned 25/25 = 71 ex 75. The nearly men included Dave Barnfield (24/25 = 72 ex 75), Adam Barnfield (24/25 = 71 ex 75), Dave Crowley (24/25 = 71 ex 75) and Dave Hart (24/25 = 71 ex 75).
The Sporting competition saw some outstanding shooting between club member Stuart Emms and Harris.
It was Emms who led home the local talent with 46/50 but Harris topped that with 47/50.
Tarplee recorded 43/50 for third and Dave Lindup completed the leader board with a well crafted 39/50.
The next home shoot is on Sunday, December 7.
lIN DRY and breezy weather, last month's Sporting competition was well attended when 34 Childswickham GC members competed for the honour of Top Gun.
The morning's sport took place with a 40-target English Sporting layout. The elements made for unpredictable targets and competition couldn't have been closer.
High Gun for the morning was Mick Emms whose score of 31 ex 40 was a single target better than rivals Ian Holmes, Ray Marsden and Chris Vale.
This month's event - Xmas Meat Prize Shoot - takes place on Sunday, November 30.
