SUPERMARKET giants will honour a city "hero" next week, when a district nurse opens the new Tesco Express store in Henwick Park.
Sister Sue Groves, a Marie Curie nurse, was nominated as a "local hero" for her selfless dedication to work and helping others around her.
And she will be guest of honour when the new Tesco Express opens on Martley Road, at 9.30am on Monday, November 24, cutting the ribbon to declare the store officially open.
As part of the opening ceremony, Jim Malley, manager of the store, will be presenting Mrs Groves with a cheque for £500 towards her chosen charity, Marie Curie Cancer Care.
"Sue is a truly remarkable lady, worthy of the praise she receives from everyone who knows her," said Mr Malley.
Mrs Groves chose Marie Curie Cancer Care for the £500 donation as she sees at first hand how essential the work of the charity is to cancer patients and their families.
