THE Bishop of Worcester was among the estimated 200,000 people who attended yesterday's anti-war demonstration in London.
The Rt Revd Dr Peter Selby said nothing had happened to change his view that the war in Iraq was not justified.
"The protest is concerned to keep the sense of deep opposition to the war alive on a day when President Bush is in London and to make it clear that there is still therefore a wide spectrum of people from all sorts of organisations coming together in the interests of peace," he said.
Issy Swift, on behalf of the Worcester for Peace group steering committee, said around 50 people from the county attended the demonstration, which she describes as "extremely successful".
"Once again people of all colours, creeds ages and professions came out to demonstrate, both about Bush's visit, the continuing disorganised and bloody occupation of Iraq, and the environmental and military policies of the United States in general."
The focal point of the demonstration was when a makeshift statue of George W Bush was pulled down in Trafalgar Square.
