WELLAND Primary School has been recognised for its efforts to promote healthy exercise.
The school has been given the Activemark Gold award by Sport England, after demonstrating that it offers a well-balanced physical education programme and promotes the importance of 'staying active for life'.
The school's efforts go beyond sport and include lunchtime activity clubs, such as dance and performing arts and a skipping club held over the summer.
The school's application was put together by PE teacher Adam Greaves, now in his second year at Welland.
The school will be able to use the Activemark logo on its literature and will get a plaque to display.
