Residents on Ebrington Road, Malvern, were celebrating a planning victory this week.
They successfully lobbied the southern area planning sub-committee to prevent the building of a three-storey dwelling and a parking platform.
District council planning officers were in favour of the application but residents argued that the road was already too crowded and the new house would be out of character.
Dave Woosey, who addressed the committee on behalf of the residents, said road safety and traffic management were the greatest concerns. Children walk to school along the road, which is already unsuitable for the traffic it carries.
