BRITAIN joined the Common Market on January 1, 1973 and Section 2 of the enabling legislation Communities Act of 1972 established the principle that European Law would always prevail over British Law - thereby overthrowing the supremacy of the British Parliament.

In 2000, the Treaty of Nice brought about a centralised European state.

The EU can now overturn Acts of Parliament - in both houses - and Britain can be taken before the courts in Brussels should they disobey and clash with European Law.
